One morning Adrian Edmondson (Young Ones / Bottom / Comic Strip) awoke from a Soho drinking session to find he'd purchased a mandolin. Out of such misadventure legends are created as he challenged himself to re-interpret his favourite punk songs, and invented thrash mandolin in the process ... Notwithstanding his own considerable musical talents, Adrian ("There are no sheep on stage - that's how bad we are") is joined by a stellar line-up including Uilleann pipes genius Troy Donockley. It's not all punk, though, as this wildly entertaining mash-up of Davy Spillane hoedown via The 100 Club circa 1976 also blasts through Kraftwerk (The Model) to Thin Lizzy (Whiskey In the Jar), and Talking Heads' (Once In A Lifetime - "And you may ask yourself - where does the M40 go?") to Steeleye Span (All Around My Hat). Naming recent album ‘Yan, Tyan, Tethera, Methera' (after an ancient sheep-counting system, and meaning 'One, Two, Three, Four'), had The Ramones been Cumbrian shepherds, it's what they would have shouted as the intro to every song ...
