If you know Charlie Floyd and Ed Shipley, you know a lot of York music history. The youthful Charlie has gone through many phases from angry Cobain to samples-and-decks; Ed Shipley, plank spanker extraordinaire, was in a York "kiddy" band, The Clangers, before most of today's kiddy bands were born - and even supported The Lightning Seeds. Teaming now with Dan White and David Kearns, they have alighted upon a cool and listenable funk and rock (NOT funk rock!) vein based on steely songwriting with big choruses. And tonight is their debut EP Launch; let's hear it for fine wine, maturing with age but not losing any of the fizz.
