The missing link between Richie Havens and Stevie Wonder or the spirit of The Blue Nile within Tom Waits, depending on who you listen to. Either way, The Sunday Times hailed Belfast-born real life son-of-a preacher-man Foy as "An unbelievable voice ... the premier league of British songwriters" and quite rightly so. He's a gospel-fuelled Pearl Jam operating in his very own parallel universe, a voice dripping with soul and gospel, drawing on Otis Redding, Van Morrison and Elvis Costello. "There are two types of music, good and bad", he says, "and I'm influenced by both 50/50". A very special artist, then, a raw and impassioned performer with an eclectic package of beautifully crafted songs. Welcome back to York!
