The release of 2004's 'Mercury' saw Longview make a full connection.  No scenes and posturing, just  magically elevational singles and an exquisite debut.  Not this or any week's circus act, then, just cutting straight to that emotional core with songs of hope and humanity, ecstasy and separations, hometowns and angels glimpsed through the rain.  Longview say,  "If you are in a rock band you're not regurgitating, you are the creative force ... you Are Beethoven."  And with sell-out UK tours and huge festival crowds they were pigeonholed with Snow Patrol and Coldplay (they're better with better songs) but longed for people to see their diverse guitar and song connections to The Smiths and My Bloody Valentine.  A truly classic band, highly recommended.
