Because York needs a bigger venue!

How long have you been going?
We opened in July 2008 but the operators and promoters here previously owned, managed and ran Fibbers from it's inception in August 1992 until May 2008. So you just know it's going to be good :o)

How old do I have to be to get in?
14s are admitted with an 18+ adult. We are very strict on ID and suchlike, so please check this page out as well.
I dress a bit weird, are you OK with that?
Hey, as long as you're clean we're fine. However, we don't allow football colours, sportswear or stag/hen parties.
Are you connected to Fibbers?
Not any more; but we still love it 'cos it will always be a great little venue. The Duchess is not "the new Fibbers"!
What beers have you got on?
Traditional real ale (Theakstons XB at the moment), super-chilled Kronenbourg and Fosters, John Smith's Smooth, Strongbow plus the usual premium ciders and enough Jack Daniels to sink your average touring band. And that can be a lot. There are drinks offers as well. Patrons are reminded to drink responsibly ...
I hear you're doing food?
We're already pretty famous on the band circuit for our riders and now we're bringing back some of that special stuff for you lot. It ain't going to be silver service and tablecloths but we'll be doing lots of scrummy finger stuff like chicken wings, burgers, wraps, you know the kind of thing ...
Why aren't the gig photos I sent in being shown in the right place?
To submit your photos to appear on a past gig page, you need to upload them to Flickr and give them a tag of "duchessyork". We then match them to the right gig based on the date they were taken. So if the date in your camera or phone is wrong, they'll appear in the wrong place. It can also take up to an hour after you submit them before they appear. Patience is the key!
Who owns the photos I submit?
By submitting a photo to us, either via e-mail or via Flickr, you still own it - but you're granting us permanent, non-exclusive permission to display it on the web.
Are there going to be two rooms?
Yup, we're just exploring the best ways of making each area as soundproofed as possible. And we're well underway, so please be patient for a little while longer!
So, will there be two gigs on a night?
Maybe, depends how good we get the soundproofing. Watch this space ...
